A Day In the Park with Karen

I’m thinking of doing a performance art piece here today. I’m volunteering at the American Community Gardening Association conference at Franklin Park. So here goes. When ever I get a chance. I plan to plug in and write something. Kinda like a diary/instant blog. I will invite passersby to say a few words and do some short stories about the lectures and happenings. So please tune in. Haven’t learned how to do a live stream yet. But perhaps some day!!!
Right now a group is meeting in the atrium that consists of some of the most influential garden activist in the country. The program list people such as Bill Maynard from San Francisco where they have a garden in city parks program. Columbus use to have this. Where you could rent a space for $10 or so in 6 locations around the city. Now they lease vacant land to groups and lets them work out the details of fencing, water and everything else.
There is Dan Moessner a newly appointed board member for 4 Seasons City Farm speaking about what’s going on in his adjacent neighborhood of King Lincoln Bronzeville Garden. Looking forward to this. If we can get it taped, I hope to post it here. We also welcome folks from as far away as Dresden Germany speaking about their garden associations and folks from both of our coasts Ca, NY and Vt. Many local lectures from around the state will be speaking. I hope that some of these lectures could be presented again in Columbus for a number of different organizations and groups of people. Well time for a reception!! Leave comments if there’s someone or something you would like to here about. sincerely kareng

  1. It’s been a long day. Lots to say but will go do dinner first. Good morning session with history of gardening in America since the 1800’s. USDA and DC reps very informative about what’s happening on the national level. Importance of census and garden funding was interesting and heated discussion. Hilltop gardeners made big point of the importance of working with kids. Time to eat and maybe a nap. sincerely Karen
