Shout out for help growing local food.
I’m calling this post the shout-out post. We’ll probably refine it after it’s initial try out but here goes. Do you need something for gardening like share a load of compost or mulch. There’s only a couple farmers in this region that produce organic feed for the growing local chicken industry. I think I could grow some of the corn, beans, flax, millet and amaranth for … Read entire article »

musings from Karen
It’s been a busy week and I have a cold. Here’s what’s new. The mobile processing meeting happened at OSU. Much promise here for new farmers having opportunities to enter the competitive chicken industry. I left my take in a blog on the localfoodsystems.org site. There was an article in The Lantern at OSU about a student farm having problems starting. The students want to go organic. The professors/advisers want to include pesticides as part of the course being developed. Check the Lantern blog site to lend your support for their endeavors. I did. 4 Seasons City Farm met this week. They need volunteers. There are openings on the board and anyone who wants to garden can sign … Read entire article »

musings fom kareng
Pay it forward with food It pleases me to see how active people are being with food on so may levels. The small family farmer is on the march. They want more services from farm organizations. Food Bank farms have been created to assist those less fortunate and create a sustainable food economy at the same time. Their methods of saving and sharing … Read entire article »
