Hi Alma. Thanks for your reply. When I originally posted this I was looking for people inside Columbus interested in doing this. At this time I would like to connect with people interested in becoming market gardeners or part of a Winter grow greens for charity project. We at 4 Seasons city farm were able to have spinach in April from an unheated greenhouse that was planted in the fall. As part of the new movement to eat local and eat seasonally, we in Ohio need to perfect the extended harvest using hoophouses, cold frames, hotbeds, high tunnels and low tunnels. This is the only way that neighborhoods in the country and the city can truly be sustainable and reduce the need for food being trucked in from parts unknown. So keep in touch and tell your friends and neighbors about these ideas too. You can also keep chickens in a hoophouse for meat and eggs year round. Then use it for a really rich garden space every other season.

Update on greenhouse. I have acquired a kit house 6" X 8" that I would like to set up in mid march. Somewhere north of campus. Do you have a yard with a southern exposure. This is more then I need for personal use but a spin garden job is possible. Several other sites are currently being prepped for pantry support. Check out Bella Cafe's upcoming benefit for their's.

I've collected a packet of info on how to build one. I and 4Seasons City Farm have enough seed from last season to start several. In March I plan to buy a roll of plastic that would be more then enough for several. For about $30 I would share these supplies. Each 12 x 14 greenhouse can hold about 50 to 60 flats I believe. This would be enough for two or three families to start a family plot and have hothouse tomatoes, cucumbers and microgreens for 10 months of the year.
